Crown King

This 2 or 3 day tour takes you over 50 miles from Wickenburg to the remote mounain top village of Crown King, accessible by almost 30 miles of dirt roads.   Crown King, a former ghost town, was founded in 1888 by gold miners and is set in a completely different climate than Wickenburg.  You’ll want your coat in the evenings and may even experience an incredible snowfall in the fragrant pine forest!  Have a terrific dinner at the friendly & entertaining historic Crown King Saloon.  This saloon and former brothel has been in Crown King since 1916.   Live entertainment and Kareoke are availabe at the saloon most weekends.  Either way its the place to be – the parking lot is filled with ATVs and friendly riders every night.  Spend the night above the saloon in the old bordello where “Leather Belly” the ghost of a prostitute is said to still walk the hallways at night.  Shop in the general store for books, cards, collecibles, clothing and fudge and the ‘curio’ store featuring many collectibles.  Either return to Wickenburg the next day or spend the day hiking the many trails.  See the tombstone of Corpl. William Bell in nearby Fort Misery…explore the ghost town of Oro Belle or visit the historic saloon via ATV in Cleator!  Get married or renew your vows in the Hummingbird Lodge Retreat Center, in the Chapel of Crown King, a non-denominational church which welcomes all faiths, or outside in the gorgeous, pristine pine forest of Crown King.  Accomodations and all meals and drinks in Crown King are paid for by each individual participant.
